See Every Item of Uniqlo x Lemaire Spring 2019 Collection
If you enjoyed the Uniqlo x Lamaire fall 2015 collection, get ready to be overwhelmed with a very much anticipated second round, which will see the Japanese mass retailer and the young French fashion designer reunite forces once again for a minimalistic collection. Like their previous collaboration, theUniqlo x Christophe Lemaire spring 2019 lineupis full of statement pieces that work just as the perfect building block for any wardrobe, being not only stylish but also extremely cozy and wearable.
Inspired by Sixties vacations in South France, the collection celebrates both Lamaire’s passion for solid hues and signature loose cuts, which also have a slightly-futuristic appeal, and Uniqlo’s affordable haute couture basic pieces, the clean lines and refined fabrics of which will definitely give anyone something to look forward to. While their first collection kept it simple with shades of natural colors such as brown, green and grey, this collection introduces bold solid-colored staples in red and yellow. Such a gamut of vivid colors perfectly refreshes Uniqlo’s classic aesthetics, without making it stick too much to Lemaire’s style. If ‘balance’ could have a proper collection, that would be Uniqlo x Lamaire indeed.
To catch at least one of this massive 98-piece lineup’s staples (it is a comprehensive collection both for women and men), we have to wait up until March 4th, as it is just a few weeks before spring officially blossoms when Uniqlo will officially launch it both online and at bricks-and-mortar stores. Perfect for long walks at the beach, the lineup alternates breezy tops with kimono-inspired shirts and sailor sweaters, which above all make it possible to feel in Provence and Kyushu at the same time. Each one of the lineup’s pieces is well constructed and refined with clean lines, which is just the ideal combination of qualities for those who often enjoy wearing unisex, if not men’s, items.
Alternating Jane Birkin-approved knit maillots with oversized tunics and palazzo pants, the collection deeply dives into Lamaire’s Mediterranean roots, as it really seems to have been inspired by the Mediterranean white seashores and crystal clear waters. White, mustard and deep blue all reinforce such a statement, while also lessening the distances between Japan and Europe.
Then, to lessen the distances between the Sixties and 2019, the lineup also opted for delicate thin-ribbed knits and fabled asymmetrical capes, combining the two decades that, at first blush, couldn’t be more distant. Single-pleat culottes confirm both Uniqlo’s and Lamaire’s willingness to pay attention to their customers desires, as they blissfully unite one of this year’s hottest trend with coziness that is just the result of their unique mixture of innate qualities and astounding tailoring skills.
As for the necklines, the collection almost solely focuses on deep V-necks, used to both adorn the many oversized tunics and shirts and even the Preppy polo shirts. Oversized trench coats and A-line maxi dresses will surprise you thanks to their rich in texture thickness and quality, while knitted tank tops will definitely satiate anyone’s appetite for basic pieces of clothing.
Last but not least, Uniqlo x Lamaire took its time to create some staggering high-waist flared maxi skirts that will look basically perfect with any kind of shirt, tank tops and even crop top you will ever own.
