How to Make a Toy for Your Dog out of Socks
Sock Toy Pet for Dog
Get some old socks you no longer need.Except for the outer sock, all the other ones can have holes in them.
Take one sock (with no holes) and stuff it with about five of the other unwanted socks.Fit them in so that they sit comfortably and the end result is squishy but not lumpy.
Cut a small slit each side at the top of the leg end of the outside sock to make something to tie with.(Leave the toe end intact.)
Tie the two sides together in a tight knot.Press down as much as you can and tie again to prevent the knot from coming undone.
Fluff up the toy and make sure it's not lumpy. It should look a bit like a two tailed fish but your dog will just see it as pure fun.
Give the sock toy to your dog and watch him have fun!
Tug Of War Sock Toy
Choose an unwanted sock.Preferably choose a long one but all types work fine.
Get a bit of cotton the size of a lemon.Push it to the end of the sock and tie a piece of thread or string over it so the cotton stays put. This padding will allow your dog to get a comfortable hold on the sock.
Make two holes the size of your pointer finger opposite to each other on the open end of the sock.Pass your fingers through these holes and give the stuffed part to your doggie.
Let your dog grab one end.Hold on to the other. And tug away.
QuestionWould these be suitable for 2-week-old puppies?wikiHow ContributorCommunity AnswerYes, if the toys are too big to swallow, there are no holes, and the puppies do not have sharp-ish milk teeth. Thanks!
QuestionWill giving my dog a sock of my own, even clean, teach my dog to chew on other socks, such as clean laundry?wikiHow ContributorCommunity AnswerIt can, because, even clean, it is a cloth item with your scent on it, and the dog will associate it with other cloth items with your scent on them. It can be confusing for dogs. Thanks!
QuestionCould I sew the open ends of the sock together?wikiHow ContributorCommunity AnswerThanks!
QuestionI want to put a clicker or noise maker inside the sock. Where can I buy them?wikiHow ContributorCommunity AnswerUse an empty water bottle and save yourself the money. It's loud and crinkly. Thanks!
QuestionCan I use a fidget spinner?wikiHow ContributorCommunity AnswerNo. A fidget spinner is a serious choking hazard for your dog. Thanks!
QuestionWhy won't my dog play with it?wikiHow ContributorCommunity AnswerHe may not be interested in this type of toy. Try other toys to find out which ones he is the most interested/ engaged in.Thanks!

- If you don't want to waste five socks just to stuff it with, then use stuffing (you can find it at craft stores) or an old shirt or unwanted underwear, etc.
- If you want the dog toy to be colorful, then use one colorful or patterned sock for the outside and stuff it with plain white socks.
